Dewars Lane is one of the surviving links between Bridge Street and the Quayside. It is probably of medieval origin being a rare survivor of what was once a complex network of alleyways.

Dewars Lane has been immortalized by the painter L S Lowry and features on the Lowry trail. Lowry made two sketches of Dewars Lane this one dates from 1936 |
