We hope you are all remaining safe and well in these unusual times. Life is certainly different at the moment.
We are writing to update you on Berwick Heritage Open Days 2020 as you may be wondering what is happening. At the moment the guidelines from the National Event Team is that Heritage Open Days will take place but that we may all need to consider running our events in different ways, depending on the situation at the time. They feel it is too early to make an overall decision and have indicated that they will let us know in early June what they consider possible and feasible in the light of government guidelines.
In the meantime, here in Berwick, the Steering Group are continuing to meet via video conferencing and are trying to put together a programme of possible events for September. We are also considering different ways of delivery including “virtual walks or tours”. In this uncertain period, we have decided to take the plunge and develop a Berwick HODS website using the expertise of two of our Steering Group members – Homer and Jim. We feel this will be of great benefit to us going forward and will certainly help us this year.
We appreciate all the support you give us either as an organisation or an individual. We can’t run this event without you providing venues, leading walks, giving talks and helping as volunteers over the weekend. This is a community run event to celebrate our local heritage and you all play a very important part. Therefore, in the present circumstances, we hope you will continue to work with us to ensure that we can offer a Berwick HODS weekend in 2020.
We will continue to update you as the situation becomes clearer and if you have any questions about Berwick HODS, please do not hesitate to contact us on this e-mail address.
We look forward to meeting you all again and working with you on this year’s event.
With best wishes
Linda Bankier and the Berwick HODS Steering Group.
