Members were blessed with a lovely warm sunny evening for the Main Guard Party, which also saw the unveiling of a new exhibition centred around a 1580 map of Berwick upon Tweed. Kate Kent has done a wonderful job in developing a really interesting and informative set of panels relating to the production of the map itself, the likely identity of the map maker, as well as details of the types of houses shown and the occupants at the time. Another lovely feature is the provision of boys and girls’ clothes of the period to allow younger children to dress up, no doubt to the delight of their parents. Zoreen, Lady Hill opened the exhibition which was well attended by members as well as officials from Berwick Town Council, Mayor Gregor Roughead and Sheriff Liam Mutch, along with John Haswell, Chairman of the Chamber of Trade.
